SHOPPING - Royal Treatment (part 2)

Yup!  I finally got my pre-ordered Royal Blue Tri-Colour Nubuck Mini!  It's from the Fall 2012 collection and was freshly delivered to my friend's office in HK (to avoid the astronomical duty if shipped directly to China) and brought back to me last friday!

I can't be happier with the colours (can you see how mesmerizing the royal blue is in nubuck leather?!?).  In fact, I'm carrying it today to TianMa Golf Resort for a fun day at the pool with Ayden.

Have a good weekend!

INSPIRATION - Back Necklace

Exposing your back (and only your back instead of exposing your back/front/legs/etc...) with either a dress or top can be very seductive!  I especially like it when the rest of the garment is not skin-tight, but rather flowing to give innocent approach.

I found this picture while searching for "backless dress" and thought it was the cutest pendant necklace to wear with a backless dress!  It reminds me of the little horse logo of Hermes Baby collection.

Having that said, I think this look will be great with any delicate necklace worn backwards with a v-back top/dress.  Care to try this summer?

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Craving for Your Love

I'm on a detox.  The 14 days Total Body Cleanse from Renew Life to be exact.  In my quest for a "dream body", I thought I could give it a try!

See, although I'm not a believer of diet in general, this is only requires me to take some organic herbal supplements and follow a "suggested" diet, which consists of fruits, veges, fish, eggs, chicken, turkey, nuts, whole grains and "good fats".  Not too bad right?  I least I don't have to fast or be on some liquid diet.

Well, I soon realized that I'm not suppose to have coffee or chocolate for 14 days (yeah, I was kinda in denial)!  So I "suggested" myself to give up chocolate and keep my daily dose of caffein...with the weather so hot, I don't mind having watermelon for dessert anyways.

Turns out fruits as dessert suck!  Today is my 3rd day and I'm really craving for some dark chocolate...isn't it suppose to be good for the body & brain?!?

Sing, Brother!

(Sass & Bide Sing, Brother! Collection)

Not sure if it's the pacific water (although us asians share the same ocean) or the air on the Southern Hemisphere, the folks at Sass & Bide have never cease to impress me!

I was first drawn to them a few years ago with their harness detailed tops and dresses.  Their latest sing, brother! collection was just a extension of all the good things they do best: sequins, cutouts and asymmetric lines.  Just he kinds of stuff a cool girl (yes, we've determined that earlier this week) like myself would wear!

SHOPPING - Shoe Therapy

I was just on my way to meet up with Taylor at the studio when I was told that she's at a sample sale!

"What?!?!  You're at a SAMPLE SALE?  What sample sale?  SERGIO ROSSI?!?  And you didn't bother to call me??  OK, never mind...I'll be there right now!"

And the sample sale was actually right next to our studio...how convenient!  So, unfortunately for me (and fortunately for my wallet), most styles in my size were sold out.  Still, I was able to leave with 3 pairs that I love (instead of 10 pairs).

The only thing better than a sample sale is a SHOE SAMPLE SALE!  I love shoe therapy!

I'm just a cool girl

(Vogue Paris June/July 2012)

There are blogs that I follow strictly for the beautiful photography (Statement Shoes & The Pootsville Times to name a few) and others for the ingenious writing.  Garance Dore falls into the latter category.

The latest post from her blog, Deep Thoughts: Body, is so funny yet true, I couldn't resist sharing with all of you:

Deep Thoughts: Body

Hi!  Here are three deep thoughts for your morning.
They’re all about body image and no, I’m not writing this because I’m writing you from the poolside of Hotel Pellicano and I am trying to pep talk myself into taking my first dip of the year. Nope, that’s not at all the reason.
Deep thought #1 : a fit body has become the ultimate fashion accessory.
Or maybe I just have a somewhat distorted view on this as I live right in the middle of fitness and weight hysteria?
The fact is, totally subjectively speaking -and honestly – if you asked me what I wanted to wear this summer, the only thing I ever think to answer is a t-shirt and jean shorts (white) AND the dream body.

Deep thought #2: Having the dream body after 15 years old (ok, maybe 25)(ok, we’ll say 30), is a lot of work. It requires real discipline, like Gisele Bündchen revealed in July’s ParisVogue. No meat, no alcohol, no nothin’… And two hours of exercise every day. Exercise, diet, transcendental meditation, crap, no room for fun! It’s kinda like to be the girl with the dream body, you have to be no-fun Nancy, which is the opposite of cool, right?
Yep, and that’s the reason a lot of women with the “perfect body” try to make us think they do nothing to have their perfect bodies (I scarf down burgers! I hate going to the gym!), because it’s supposed to be cool to have the perfect body without working super hard for it.
Deep thought #2b, just to add… Thank you Gisele for giving us a glimpse of truth.
Okay.
Deep thought #3: so then, a real cool girl’s body is not “perfect.” It’s a little soft around the edges, less rigid. There are maybe a few extra pounds (“No biggie”) or biceps a little less than ripped (“I’d rather go to a coffee shop than to the gym!”), so yeah, not the “dream” body. Well, it IS actually a dream body, maybe just not of fashion designers, but the dream body of the cool girl’s boyfriends.
And if a girl can be less strict about her body, she captures the imagination of all the people around her because what emerges from her less-than-perfectitude is a certain coolitude and self-acceptance : well, you got it! The holy grail.

There you go. Maybe I was a little too profound here, but I keep reassuring myself that I’m just a cool girl...
Though we share the same perspectives on life (I scarf down burgers and I hate going to the gym too!), I definitely wouldn't mind having Gisele's body for a while...without 2 hrs of daily gym, no food, no wine, no life of course!
Until then, I'll just be a cool girl!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Screw You

I've been inspired today.  Somehow, I felt very Emmanuelle Alt and decided to wear my skinny cargos, oversized T and my black pointed toe stilettos.

Ok, so maybe I'm missing the mile-long legs...maybe makeup is not bare enough...maybe I still need to work on my nonchalant attitude.  Maybe I'm still far from being an Alt!

OUTFIT DU JOUR - Slumber Party

My friend decided to host a slumber party at her place since the boyfriend is out of town for a week.  All girls, Sex and the City (all seasons + the two movies), lots of champaign & snacks and (for some reason) an aerobics exercise tape!

It almost feels like we're 15 again!  To the exception that I didn't actually sleep over...you know, mommie duty!

ORGASM

One of the many beauty products I CANNOT live without is my Nars Orgasm multiple, a foolproof creamy formula for eyes, lips and cheek (although I only use it on my cheeks).

The name says it all: that universally flattering peachy pink with light shimmer...just the colour we get after a session of steamy sex (am I allowed to blog this?!?).  Anyways, it's a cult favourite and the brand has now expanded to almost 5 products, including lipgloss and nail polish.  And if that's not enough, you might want to try Super Orgasm, with extra oomph and extra gold shimmer!
